Before you change hosts
Use this checklist to prepare a move. Keep the source service active until the new installation has been accepted.
Inventory
- Website URL, platform and current host
- Approximate file and database size
- Registrar and DNS provider
- Mailboxes, forwarders and external email provider
- Forms, shops, scheduled jobs and external integrations
Copy and verify
Take a current backup, prepare the target and test representative pages and business functions. Agree how to handle new submissions or orders during the final sync.
Switch deliberately
Confirm which DNS records change and who controls them. A Cloudflare-managed zone may allow an origin change without a registrar nameserver change; the actual setup must be checked first.
Close the move
Check public HTTPS, site content and agreed email routes. Retain a recovery copy and only cancel the old hosting after the handover is accepted.
